yes im pretty sure it doesn’t matter where you go for traffic school as long as the class meets Hawaiian standards

  2. silky1 says:

Of course you can as long as your insurance is written under California law and will acknowledge the traffic school in order to keep your insurance record clean.

I thought the classes and such were to get out of paying the ticket? If you pay the ticket does that not take away the traffic school option?

Yes, you certainly can take traffic school in CA for your ticket in Hawaii. Know that you can take it online, but depending on your county, you may have to go to a proctoring center to take your final exam. It’s really easy if you check out. Make sure to let the Hawaii court know you are taking the option of taking a traffic school class to get a discount off your ticket too!

In response to Amber, “I thought the classes and such were to get out of paying the ticket? If you pay the ticket does that not take away the traffic school option?” If you pay the ticket without letting them know you are going to take traffic school, then yes, you do take away that option. If you let them know you will take the class, you still have to pay most of the ticket, but they give you a % off.

Traffic school is an option given by the court with jurisdiction over a traffic offense, not by the state where you are licensed. So if you are to have this ticket dismissed, it will have to be with the approval of the court in Hawaii. If traffic school is not approved by the Hawaii court, the fact that it would be approved by a California court is meaningless.

Although I can determine that there are online traffic courses available for Hawaii, I cannot determine whether or not you can sign up for traffic school online, or whether it automatically results in dismissal of your ticket. No traffic school option is mentioned on the Hawaii State Judiciary website, so it might not be an option at all there. (It appears that in some cases traffic school can be ordered in addition to a fine, rather than as an alternative to conviction.) I am afraid you are going to have to communicate with the court in Hawaii to find out what your options may be.
